]]> The Gozo Business Chamber in collaboration with the Commissioner for Revenue held an information session on “ Measures regarding the online submission of VAT for all the companies  and sole proprietors employing 10 or more employees, and FSS end of year online submission for employers employing 10 or more employees “.  The session was held on Friday 25th January 2019 at the GBC Offices and was conducted by officials of the CFR.

 

All present thanked the GBC for organising this information session in Gozo.  The GBC also showed its appreciation to CFR officials for their availability and the useful information provided to the GBC members who attended the session.

]]> It is with deep sorrow that I inform you about the passing away of Mr Joseph G. Grech, President of The Gozo Business Chamber.

While extending the Chamber’s condolences to Joseph’s family, kindly note that the funeral service is taking place next Monday, 10 September 2018 with mass at 17:00 hours at St George’s Basilica, Victoria, Gozo.

]]>  Waqt konferenza stampa li saret fil-Gozo Business Centre, Victoria, il-Ministru għall-Finanzi Edward Sciculna qal li, “l-iżvilupp sostenibbli tal-gżira Għawdxija jiddependi mis-settur privat. Il-Gvern għandu rwol li jinċentiva lis-settur privat sabiex l-ekonomija tkompli miexja ‘l quddiem”.

Waqt it-tnedija tal-iskema biex is-settur privat Għawdxi joħloq aktar impjiegi, il-Ministru Scicluna semma’ kif Għawdex esperjenza tkabbir ekonomiku bla preċedent matul dawn l-aħħar snin.
“Il-miżura li qed titħabbar illum għandha twassal sabiex is-settur privat ikun jista’ joffri aktar impjiegi”, żied jgħid il-Ministru Scicluna.
Il-Ministru Scicluna kkonkluda billi tkellem dwar kif  din il-miżura trid tibgħat sinjal qawwi li Għawdex għandu potenzjal għall-investiment produttiv, sew fis-setturi eżistenti kif ukoll dawk ġodda.
Il-Ministru għal Għawdex Justyne Caruana qalet li din l-iskema ġiet imfassla u implimentata wara li kien hemm diskussjoni kemm mal komunità kummerċjali Għawdxija, kif ukoll mal-Ministeru għall-Finanzi. Justyne Caruana tkellmet dwar kif din l-iskema hi speċifikament intiża biex tinkoraġġixxi żieda fl-impjiegi ġodda fis-settur privat. Il-Ministru għal Għawdex ikkwotat statistika maħruġa mill-Uffiċċju Nazzjonali tal-Istatistika li turi li sa Diċembru 2016, l-akbar ammont ta’ impjiegi f’Għawdex kienu ġġenerati mis-settur privat.

Il-Ministru Caruana spjegat kif din il-miżura, li ġiet imħabbra fil-budget, se tagħti rifużjoni ta’ 30% tal-paga sa massimu ta’ €6,000 għall kull impjieg ġdid fis-settur privat fuq kuntratt ta’ tliet snin. Hija qalet ukoll li bħala Gvern, irridu nwasslu messaġġ ċar li l-Gvern qiegħed hemm biex jassisti lis-settur privat u mhux biex ifixkel. Il-Ministru Caruana qalet li din il-miżura żgur se tassisti sabiex jinħolqu aktar opportunitajiet ta’ impjiegi u xogħol ta’ kwalità f’Għawdex. L-applikazzjonijiet huma disponibbli online minn fuq is-sit: www.mgoz.gov.mt jew mill-mobile app ‘mygozo’.

]]> The Gozo Business Chamber in collaboration with ACT Advisory Services Limited held a seminar on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). ACT is a Maltese firm of Accountants and tax advisors, who has a presence in Gozo through its office in Victoria.
The main aim of the seminar was to provide a general view of the principles and application of GDPR. A number of case studies were discussed to identify data processing good practices.
The seminar was conducted by Dr Karl Sammut of sammut.legal. Dr Sammut is a commercial lawyer specialising in business, technology and intellectual property and has extensive experience in data protection and privacy related issues.
The seminar was very well attended and the feedback received from those who attended was a very positive one.

]]> The Gozo Business Chamber together with Malta Japan Chamber of Commerce and in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo organised this event to give the Gozitan Business entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn what doing business with Japan involves. This event was chaired by His Excellency Andre’ Spiteri Ambassador of Malta for Japan. Several business entrepreneurs who do business with Japan shared their experiences. Ms Saeko Tani, Economic Attache’ at the Embassy of Japan in Rome and Mr Carmel Borg from Bank of Valletta also addressed the floor. Great thanks goes to the Ministry for Gozo, Bank of Valletta, Vini e Capricci by Abrahams and Michael Grech Financials who sponsored this event.

]]> During the Business Forum held in Bulgaria and the participation of twelve (12) GBC members, the Chamber signed:

a) A Cooperation Agreement between the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and The Gozo Business Chamber;

b) A Memorandum of Understanding between the Maltese – Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and The Gozo Business Chamber.

We also held a number of B2B meetings involving the various sectors.

Apart of the B2B meeting held by the GBC members attending, the Chamber held similar meetings as a Chamber.
